Description
The Cisco A900-CM-GNSS is the ASR 900 Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Clocking Module, a field-replaceable unit designed for Cisco NCS 4200 Series Route Switch Processors (RSP). It serves as a powerful centralized engine for network timing and control plane operations in Cisco NCS 4206 and NCS 4216 Series systems, addressing the demands of converged service provider networks including Carrier Ethernet, MPLS, and advanced timing services.

Clocking and Timing Services
The A900-CM-GNSS module provides integrated support for Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), Building Integrated Timing Supply (BITS), 10 MHz, 1 Pulse Per Second (1 PPS), and Time Of Day (TOD) interfaces. It enables direct interface to external antennas and supports multiple satellite systems including Global Positioning System (GPS), GLONASS, GALILEO, BEIDOU, QZSS, and SBAS. As the central clocking source for NCS 4200 Series, it supports Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE), IEEE 1588-2008 (acting as ordinary clock, boundary clock, end-to-end transparent clock, or primary clock), and network clocking for TDM and SDH/SONET interfaces.

The NCS 4200 Series with A900-CM-GNSS is powered by Cisco IOS XE Software, offering modular packaging, feature velocity, resiliency, complete IOS feature set, advanced service scaling, integrated applications for security/reliability/simplicity, and programmability for cloud orchestration. Initial support: Cisco IOS XE 3.18SP for NCS 4206/4216, 16.5.1 for NCS 4216 F2B.
Environmental and Deployment Flexibility
Designed for rugged environments: –40 to 65°C operating temperature (with specified power supplies), up to 4000m altitude, 5-95% noncondensing humidity. Suitable for outside plant with IP65 sealed enclosures per Telecordia GR487. Complies with NEBS GR-63-Core seismic Zone 4 and acoustic standards.
