Description

The Cisco ASR1000-MIP100 is a high-performance 100-Gbps full-duplex Modular Interface Processor designed for the Cisco ASR 1000 Series Aggregation Services Routers. This modular Ethernet line card introduces advanced 40 Gigabit Ethernet and 100 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity through its ability to host up to two Cisco ASR 1000 Series Ethernet Port Adapters (EPAs). It replaces traditional SPA interface processors, offering greater Ethernet density, feature parity, and functionality equivalent to SPA combinations while utilizing the slot previously occupied by SPA interface processors.

• Full-duplex 100-Gbps traffic forwarding capability using a modular design.
• Hosts up to two EPAs, enabling flexible configurations for various high-speed Ethernet interfaces.
• Rich Ethernet Layer 2, Layer 3, IP, IPv6, and Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) packet-processing capabilities, consistent with other Cisco ASR 1000 Series platforms.
• Comprehensive Quality-of-Service (QoS) functions including ingress and egress QoS, egress queuing capability, and high- and low-priority lanes to Cisco ASR 1000 Series Embedded Services Processors for high-priority, low-latency forwarding.
• Support for Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) and 10-Gbps SFP+ (XFP) modules for configuration with different media types (copper or fiber) and optical requirements (single- or multimode fiber).
• LED indicators: one power LED, one line-card status LED, and port or link-status LEDs for each interface.
• Hardware-ready for MACsec on the 18-port 1 Gigabit Ethernet port adapter, 10-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet port adapter, 2-port 40 Gigabit Ethernet port adapter, and 1-port 40 Gigabit Ethernet port adapter.

The ASR1000-MIP100 differs from fixed Ethernet line cards (such as ASR1000-2T+20X1GE and ASR1000-6TGE) and SPA Interface Processors by supporting EPAs exclusively, without built-in Ethernet ports or SPAs. This design achieves greater Ethernet density and a lower price per port in compatible chassis.

Platform Integration

The ASR1000-MIP100 integrates seamlessly with select Cisco ASR 1000 Series chassis, route processors, and embedded services processors, enabling scalable enterprise WAN edge deployments. It supports advanced services including Ethernet connectivity for video, collaboration, branch-office solutions, and growth requirements.
