Description

The Cisco ASR1002-HX is a high-performance fixed-configuration Aggregation Services Router from the Cisco ASR 1000 Series, delivering 4x10GE + 4x1GE interfaces, dual power supplies, and optional crypto capabilities. It addresses stringent route-processing requirements for carrier-grade IP and MPLS packet network infrastructures. The integrated route processor serves as the central control unit, running Cisco IOS XE Software, providing advanced routing, and managing chassis components.

The route processor builds and distributes forwarding information to the Embedded Services Processor (ESP), implements SBC setup/teardown, stateful firewall policies, IPsec negotiation. As management processor, it loads OS images to line cards, synchronizes state for redundancy, performs high-availability failover, provides console/auxiliary/USB/Ethernet ports, monitors power/temperature.

Processor and Services Integration

Powered by Cisco QuantumFlow Processor (QFP) for high-performance forwarding, integrated QoS, advanced memory management, service programmability. Supports Cisco IOS Software redundancy, ISSU, NSF with appropriate memory.
