Description

The Cisco ASR1009-X Router Chassis is a high-performance aggregation services router designed for enterprise WAN edge deployments. It provides compatibility with Cisco ASR 1000 Series Fixed Ethernet Line Cards such as ASR1000-2T+20X1GE (twenty 1 Gigabit Ethernet ports and two 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports) and ASR1000-6TGE (six 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports), each capable of 40-Gbps full-duplex traffic forwarding using fixed-port interfaces. These line cards feature Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) and 10-Gbps SFP (XFP) modules for flexible copper or fiber configurations, including single- or multimode fiber options. Each line card includes one power LED, one line-card status LED, and port or link-status LEDs.

Modular Interface Processor Support

The ASR1009-X chassis supports the Cisco ASR 1000 Series Modular Interface Processor (ASR1000-MIP100), a full-duplex 100-Gbps modular Ethernet line card that hosts up to two Cisco ASR 1000 Series Ethernet Port Adapters (EPAs). EPAs introduce 40 Gigabit Ethernet and 100 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, including models like 1-port 100GE QSFP, 1-port 100GE, 2-port 40GE (Native QSFP), 1-port 40GE (with optional license), 2-port 40GE (breakout), 10-port 10GE, and 18-port 1GE. The 18-port 1GE, 10-port 10GE, 2-port 40GE, and 1-port 40GE port adapters are hardware-ready for MACsec.

• Compatible with Cisco ASR 1004, ASR1006, ASR1006-X, ASR1009-X, ASR1013 chassis; ASR1000-RP2, ASR1000-RP3 Route Processors; and ASR1000-ESP40, ESP100, ESP200, ESP100-X, ESP200-X Embedded Services Processors (up to 4 ASR1000-2T+20X1GE/ASR1000-6TGE on ASR1013 with ESP40).

Software and MACsec Support

Minimum Cisco IOS XE Software versions are required for full functionality: ASR1000-6TGE (XE 3.12), ASR1000-2T+20X1GE (XE 3.10), ASR1000-MIP100 (XE 3.16.1 / XE 16.2.1). EPAs have specific requirements across platforms like ASR1002-HX, ASR1006-X, ASR1009-X, ASR1013. MACsec is supported on select EPAs with minimum versions (e.g., EPA-10X10GE XE 16.3.1 on MIP100) and requires licenses like FLSA1-MACSEC1G, FLSA1-MACSEC10G, FLSA1-MACSEC40G, FLSA1-MACSEC100G.
