The Cisco ASR920-GNSS is a pluggable GNSS module designed for the Cisco ASR 920 Series Aggregation Services Class B Timing Compliance Routers. This module enhances timing accuracy for mobile backhaul and business services, meeting ITU G.8273.2 Class B specifications and providing superior PTP phase delivery. Positioned as a key accessory for converged access platforms, it supports 5G-ready deployments with high-throughput, low-power consumption in a compact form factor.

Converged Access for Mobile Applications

Deployed as converged access for mobile backhaul, aggregates multiple base stations via Ethernet and IP interfaces using MPLS transport. Provides Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE) and IEEE-1588 timing services. Suitable for small, sealed cabinets in outside environments due to small form factor and extended temperature range.

Metro Ethernet Access

Meets service provider requirements for Carrier Ethernet access, optimized for remote access, central offices, and smaller aggregation sites. Delivers Layer 2, IP, and MPLS transport for L2VPN, L3VPN, and multicast services. Supports MEF 3.0 services: ELINE, ELAN, ETREE, ACCESS ELINE, TRANSIT ELINE.

Flexible Deployment Options

• 1RU compact form factor with various mounting options for space-constrained locations.
• Extended temperature range for minimal environmental control.
• Small footprint extends Carrier Ethernet to remote locations.
• Supports dual redundant fixed power supplies (DC for ASR-920-12SZ-D, single AC for ASR-920-12SZ-A) with front-to-back airflow; ASR-920-20SZ-M has field-replaceable modular AC/DC PSUs.

Delivers Hierarchical QoS (HQoS), MPLS, VPLS at line-rate with ACL and HQoS. Integrates traffic-management for intelligent packet-switching. Enhanced QoS and security per service, per-traffic-class metering, bidirectional statistics. OAM functions: Layer 2 CFM, IP SLAs, MPLS OAM.

MPLS in the Access Layer

Extends MPLS to access layer for L2/L3 VPNs, unified MPLS control plane. Full VPLS support, multipoint services, full mesh or Hierarchical VPLS (H-VPLS).
