Description
The Cisco FLASR1-BB-48K is a Broadband Feature License for the Cisco ASR 1000 Series Aggregation Services Routers, enabling support for up to 48,000 broadband sessions. This perpetual Right-To-Use (RTU) license unlocks advanced broadband aggregation capabilities, making it ideal for service providers deploying large-scale triple-play services including data, voice, and video over asymmetric DSL (ADSL), T1/E1, STM-1, STM-4, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, and 10 Gigabit Ethernet.
Key Capabilities and Applications
- Broadband L2TP Access Concentrator (LAC) or L2TP Network Server (LNS): Provides Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP) endpoints for PPPoX or IP sessions, supporting extremely high scalability with up to 64,000 users and 64,000 tunnels in the ASR 1000 series.
- Service Provider Edge – Layer 3 VPN (L3VPN): Deployable at distributed provider edge or global VPN networks, offering complete services including encryption, Flexible Packet Matching (FPM), Network-Based Application Recognition (NBAR), Session Border Controller (SBC), and IP multicast.
- Triple-Play Convergence: Perfect for massive deployments of data, voice, and video services with comprehensive per-user services like firewall and SBC.
- Hosted CPE: Supports branch office architectures with investment protection through service scalability and extension, including WAN optimization and voice features.
Cisco ASR 1000 Series routers, powered by the innovative Cisco QuantumFlow processor, deliver embedded services from 2.5 Gbps to 100 Gbps, including security (encryption, firewall), QoS, NBAR, FPM, broadband aggregation, and Cisco Unified Border Element (SP edition). The control plane and data plane separation enables software redundancy on models like ASR1001, ASR1002 Fixed, ASR1002, ASR1002-X, and ASR1004, and hardware redundancy on ASR1006 and ASR1013.
Software Integration
The license integrates seamlessly with Cisco IOS XE software, a modular operating system based on Cisco IOS Software. It supports six technology packages: IP Base (non-encrypted), IP Base, Advanced IP Services, Advanced IP Services (non-encrypted), Advanced Enterprise Services, and Advanced Enterprise Services (non-encrypted). Dual IOS software instances on a single Route Processor provide software redundancy, facilitating In-Service Software Upgrades (ISSU).
For ASR1001 and ASR1002-X, universal IOS XE images combined with technology licenses (SLASR1-IPB, SLASR1-AIS, SLASR1-AES) enable flexible feature sets equivalent to full chassis capabilities.
Performance and Scalability
- Supports thousands of sites and up to 8,000 IPsec tunnels.
- Firewall performance from 2.5 to 100 Gbps depending on Embedded Service Processor (ESP).
- Up to 40,000 sessions per second recorded via NetFlow v9.
- Scalable to 8,000 VRF instances, 1 million LDP labels, 4,000 ACLs, 4 million IPv4/IPv6 routes.
- High-end route reflector with up to 29 million IPv4 routes, 64,000 Layer 3 adjacencies.
The FLASR1-BB-48K license is part of a broader ecosystem of broadband licenses (FLASR1-BB-RTU, FLASR1-BB-4K, FLASR1-BB-16K, FLASR1-BB-32K, FLASR1-BB-64K), allowing precise scaling to session requirements.
Compatibility
Compatible with all Cisco ASR 1000 Series chassis: ASR1001 (1RU), ASR1002 Fixed (2RU), ASR1002 (2RU), ASR1002-X (2RU), ASR1004 (4RU), ASR1006 (6RU), ASR1013 (13RU). Supports integrated daughter cards (IDC) on ASR1001 for additional I/O like OC-3 PoS, T3, GE, T1/E1 ports, and HDD. Leverages ESPs from ASR1000-ESP5 (5Gbps) to ASR1000-ESP100 (100Gbps), SIP10/SIP40, and RP1/RP2 processors.
Environmental specifications include front-to-back airflow, operating temperature 41 to 104°F (5 to 40°C), humidity 10 to 85% RH, and compliance with NEBS GR-1089/GR-63, FCC, VCCI, EMC standards.
