FLASR1-BB-4K

Description

The Cisco FLASR1-BB-4K is a Broadband 4K Sessions Feature License designed specifically for the Cisco ASR 1000 Series Aggregation Services Routers. This perpetual Right-To-Use (RTU) license unlocks support for up to 4,000 concurrent broadband sessions, enabling high-density broadband aggregation at the service provider edge or enterprise WAN edge.

Key Capabilities

• Provides L2TP Access Concentrator (LAC) or L2TP Network Server (LNS) functionality for point-to-point protocol over Ethernet (PPPoX) or IP sessions across STM-1 ATM, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, and 10 Gigabit Ethernet bandwidths.
• Supports triple-play services integrating data, voice, and video with complete service offerings including per-user firewall and Session Border Controller (SBC).
• Leverages the innovative Cisco QuantumFlow processor embedded services for outstanding performance from 2.5 Gbps to 100 Gbps, including security (encryption, firewall), QoS, Network-Based Application Recognition (NBAR), Flexible Packet Matching (FPM), and Cisco Unified Border Element (SP edition).
• Scalable to higher session counts with companion licenses: FLASR1-BB-16K (16K sessions), FLASR1-BB-32K (32K), FLASR1-BB-48K (48K), FLASR1-BB-64K (64K), alongside base FLASR1-BB-RTU.

Platform Architecture

Cisco ASR 1000 Series features separated control and data planes for software redundancy (ASR1001, ASR1002 Fixed, ASR1002, ASR1002-X, ASR1004) and hardware redundancy (ASR1006, ASR1013). Modular Cisco IOS XE software enables In-Service Software Upgrade (ISSU). Integrated Daughter Card (IDC) options on ASR1001 include ASR1001-2XOC3POS (2 OC-3 PoS), ASR1001-4XT3 (4 T3 ports), ASR1001-4X1GE (4 GE), ASR1001-8XCHT1E1 (8 T1/E1), ASR1001-HDD.

Performance upgrades via software activation: ASR1001 from 2.5 to 5 Gbps; ASR1002-X from 5 to 10/20/36 Gbps. Embedded services scale firewall to 2.5-100 Gbps, encryption up to 25 Gbps on ESP100.

Enterprise and Service Provider Applications

• Broadband LAC/LNS: High scalability up to 64,000 users/channels, supports every-user firewall/SBC.
• Provider Edge L3VPN: Full services with multicast, up to 8,000 VRFs, 1M LDP labels, 4M IPv4/IPv6 routes, 4,000 ACLs.
• Hosted CPE: Thousands of sites, 8,000 IPsec tunnels, WAN optimization, 2.5-100 Gbps firewall/NAT.
• Zone-Based Firewall: Embedded, 2.5-100 Gbps performance, 40,000 sessions/sec NetFlow v9 logging.
• IPsec VPN Aggregation: Up to 25 Gbps encryption on ESP100, simplifies management without service modules.
• QoS: Modular QoS CLI on VLANs/channels, 232,000 queues, hierarchical policies by DSCP/NBAR/FPM.

Software Integration

Cisco IOS XE modular OS based on IOS 12.2SR/15S, supports dual IOS instances for software redundancy on RP1-integrated chassis. Feature packs: IP Base, Advanced IP Services, Advanced Enterprise Services (with/without encryption). Sub-packages: RPBase, RPControl, RPAccess (K9/non-K9), RPIOS, ESPBase, SIPSPA, SIPBase.

For ASR1001/ASR1002-X: Universal images (SASR1001U/NPEK9/UK9, SASR1002XU/NPEK9/UK9) combined with tech packs SLASR1-IPB/AIS/AES.

High Availability and Scalability

• Software redundancy on 1RU/2RU chassis; hardware on larger chassis.
• ISSU support except hosted CPE on certain models.
• RP memory: 4-16 GB DRAM; ESP memory up to 16 GB.
• Built-in Gigabit Ethernet: 4-6 ports SFP; up to 24 SPA slots on ASR1013.
