Description
The Cisco PWR-1.6KW-DC is a 1.6 kW DC power supply module engineered for the Cisco ASR 9900 Fixed Chassis, specifically optimized for the compact ASR 9903 high-performance router. This power supply ensures reliable, redundant operation in demanding network environments such as business PE, metro aggregation, cloud edge, Internet peering, Data Center Interconnect (DCI), and mobile edge for 4G/5G networks.
Key Features and Architecture
- Part of a fully redundant configuration supporting two Route Processors (RPs), two integrated switch fabrics, up to 4 power supply modules, and 4 fan modules.
- Power-optimized architecture with high-density multi-rate ports delivering up to 3.6 Tbps of nonblocking, full-duplex capacity in a 3RU form factor (depth 600 mm excluding ejectors).
- Supports 1.6 kW DC power modules in 2+2 redundancy; mixing AC and DC modules not supported.
- Enables the ASR 9903 fixed board with maximum 1.6T data bandwidth: 16x100GE QSFP28 ports, or 15x100GE + 10x10GE, or 14x100GE + 20x10GE SFP+ ports.
- Optional Port Expansion Cards (PECs): A9903-20HG-PEC (2T, 20 ports: 5 QSFP-DD for 400/200/100GE, 15 QSFP28 for 100GE); A9903-8HG-PEC (800G, 48 ports: 32 SFP28 for 25GE, 16 SFP+ for 10GE).
Route Processor Capabilities
The Cisco ASR 9903 Route Processor features a powerful 64-bit Intel CPU and 32GB SDRAM DDR4 memory. Front panel interfaces include console and auxiliary serial ports, two management Ethernet interfaces, Class A USB port, GPS interface (10MHz, 1PPS, ToD ports), and two BITS interfaces.

- Carrier-class OAM: NetFlow, IEEE 802.1ag, IEEE 802.3ah, ITU Y.1731, IP SLA, VCCV, ping, traceroute.
- Hardware-based IEEE 1588 PTP Telecom profiles (G.8265.1, G.8275.1, G.8275.2), SyncE, GPS/BITS interfaces for precise timing over packet networks.

Software and Scalability
Based on Cisco IOS XR Software (64-bit), modular, patchable, scalable, highly available OS proven for carrier-core and edge. Supported from Release 7.1.25. Available in service edge variant with feature licenses for VRF, CGv6, MACSEC, lawful intercept, tunnel protocols, etc.
