Description
The Cisco S-A9K-MACSEC-10 is the ASR 9000 MACSEC 10G Right to Use (RTU) license, designed to enable Media Access Control Security (MACsec) encryption on 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports across the Cisco ASR 9000 Series, including the compact high-performance ASR 9903 Router. This license provides Layer 2 encryption capabilities, ensuring secure data transmission in high-density, service-edge environments such as business PE, metro aggregation, cloud edge, Internet peering, Data Center Interconnect (DCI), and mobile edge for 4G/5G networks.
Key Benefits of S-A9K-MACSEC-10 License
- Activates MACSEC on 10G ports for carrier-class security without impacting performance
- Supports mix-and-match interface types: 10GE, 25GE, 40GE, 100GE, 200GE, 400GE
- Part of the Traditional Business Model feature licenses for ASR 9903 fixed ports, 2T PEC, and 800G PEC
- Compatible with Cisco IOS XR Software (64-bit), starting from Release 7.1.25
- Reduces CapEx and OpEx with power-optimized architecture and super service scales
ASR 9903 Router Overview with MACSEC Support
Part of the Cisco ASR 9000 Series, the ASR 9903 Router delivers up to 3.6 Tbps of nonblocking, full-duplex capacity in a 3RU form factor. It features two redundant Route Processors (RPs), two integrated switch fabrics, 4 AC or DC power supply modules, and 4 fans in redundant configuration. The fixed board supports 16 QSFP28-based 100GE ports plus 20 SFP+-based 10GE ports, with combinations: 16x100GE, 15x100GE + 10x10GE, or 14x100GE + 20x10GE. Maximum 1.6T data bandwidth on fixed board.
Optional Port Expansion Cards (PEC): A9903-20HG-PEC (20 ports, 2T bandwidth: 5 QSFP-DD for 400GE/200GE/100GE, 15 QSFP28 for 100GE); A9903-8HG-PEC (48 ports, 800G bandwidth: 32 SFP28 for 25GE/10GE, 16 SFP+ for 10GE). All transceivers applicable on ASR 9903 work across ASR 9000 modular chassis. QSFP-DD optics support breakout to 25GE/10GE, 40GE, 100GE, 200GE, 400GE for flexible migration.
