Description

Cisco IOS XE Software for Cisco ASR 900 Series Aggregation Services Routers provides a modular structure, enhancing quality and performance through separation of data plane and control plane. The SLASR903-A license specifically activates the Metro Aggregation Services feature set on the Cisco ASR 903 Router, enabling advanced capabilities for metro Ethernet aggregation.

This license builds on Metro IP Services, adding MPLS Transport Profile (MPLS-TP), MPLS, Ethernet over MPLS (EoMPLS), Circuit Emulation Service over Packet Switched Network (CESoPSN), Structure Agnostic TDM over Packet (SAToP) pseudowires, Multirouter Automatic Protection Switching (MR-APS), Multichassis Link Aggregation and Control Protocol (mLACP), MPLS Traffic Engineering (MPLS TE), MPLS Fast Reroute (FRR), and MPLS VPN support.

Flexible Software Activation

ASR 900 Series routers, including ASR 903, support Cisco IOS software activation with software licenses in a pay-as-services-grow model. Service providers invest in software resources only as needed. All licenses except specific port licenses are per-chassis basis.

• Metro Services: Baseline with QoS (deep buffers, HQoS), Layer 2 (802.1d, 802.1q), EVC, Ethernet OAM (802.1ag, 802.3ah), MST, REP, SyncE, IPv4/IPv6 host connectivity, MR-APS, mLACP.
• Metro IP Services: All Metro Services plus IP routing (RIP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, IS-IS), PIM (SM, DM, SSM, SSM mapping), BFD, Multi-VRF CE (VRF lite) with service awareness (ARP, ping, SNMP, syslog, trace-route, FTP, TFTP), IEEE 1588-2008 Ordinary/Transparent Clock.
• Metro Aggregation Services (SLASR903-A): All Metro IP plus MPLS (LDP), MPLS VPN (Multi-Protocol BGP), Segment Routing, MPLS TE/FRR, MPLS OAM, MPLS-TP/FlexLSP, pseudowire emulation (EoMPLS, CESoPSN, SAToP), VPLS/HVPLS, pseudowire redundancy.

Consolidated Software Packages

Three universal consolidated packages offer complete feature support, activated via licenses like SLASR903-A. Cisco ASR 903 supported from IOS XE 3.5.0S.

Additional Feature Licenses

• IPSEC License: Security for IP packets over unprotected networks. Requires reboot. Payload encryption in separate RSP3 package.
• ATM License: ATM on TDM interfaces, ATMoMPLS, local switching, interworking. Requires T1/E1, OC-3/12/48 cards.
• IEEE 1588-2008 BC/MC License: Boundary/Master Clock activation.
